Now the drain pump run continuously. I touch the power button and the pump comes on. It even continues to run when I open the door. Is this O.K? Also the electrical connection had 4 terminals while the new one only has 2. There are onle 2 wires to hook up. I did notice the L and N identifying letters on the housing and hooked them up accordingly but it appears that the pump is now running all the time and does not shut off. Do I have the wires crossed? Dishwasher stopped draining all of a sudden but I had noticed dishes were not coming out as clean before that. found hose had a kink but I do not know if I did that while I was pulling it out. No it should spin, but not freely you should feel some resistance on the AP3996662 you can check this with a 110 a/c test cord, you can take an old 110 cord off of something and put two spade connectors on it , plug them on to the two spades coming off the pump and see if it spins just be careful, I would check the drain hose at the connections where it hooks up under the sink and where it comes out of the pump. But sometime it will drain as if there is no problem. I have checked hoses and filter so there is no blockage. At times I must push cancel button repeatedly to drain. For easier access, remove base cover 1st. To remove pump AP3996662, push latch (on circular collar) & rotate pump clockwise (cw). To install new pump, insert @ 2:00 position & rotate counterclockwise (ccw). Clean water & debris from base, then check float operation. Connect wires, then install base cover & toe kick.
