Hello Tom. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. My gas GE dryer has yellow flames and is not getting very hot.

Hello John. Make sure the dryer is hooked up to the correct type of gas and that the gas is not low if it is propane gas coming to the dryer. If the gas is correct and the pressure is good on the unit, You will need to make sure the air mixture is good on the unit. You can clean the air shutter and adjust for proper air mixture. If the problem continues, the gas safety valve will need to be replaced.

Hello Craig! No, the coil kit AP3094251 is not used on your unit. For model DBVH512GF1WW you will use part number AP2042753 for the main coil and part number AP2042752 for the dual coil. Thanks!

Dear Sir, I have whirlpool gas dryer. The heater in the gas dryer ignites and heats about 4 minutes and then it stops heating and blows cool air. If i stop the dryer and restart it, the flame does not ignites this time. I see the orange glow for a few seconds before it goes out. After a minute or two passes and this will happen all over again. I let the dryer cool down for an hour or so, and start it again. The dryer will only run 1 burn cycle for about 4 minutes and stop heating and blows cool air like in the beginning. I have change the new thermos fuse, thermostat and thermal cut out kit, but it still runs the same as earlier. I checked the gas valve coils. The two prong coil will read about 1.215 ohms and the three prong coil will read (1 & 2) 1.346 ohms, (2 & 3) 1.902 ohms (1 & 3).553 ohms. Do you think it may be the coils or is there something else that i need to check? I can't afford a new dryer. Thank you very much for you patience.

I have Maytag gas dryer for about 10 years old under model #LDG9304AAE. The dryer runs for about 10 minutes but the clothes are still damp after 45 minutes. I can see the igniter kick on the flame and fire. The fire only last for 15 minutes and the dryer is hot. The fire went off after 15 minutes and the igniter was trying to kick on again but no flame or fire. Then it starts making noise. When the dryer was cooling down, I tested it again but has the same problem. Do you think I need to replace the 2 coils or is there something else that I need to check?

Hello Cindy, The coils AP3094251 on the valve sound like the problem. The only way this won't correct it is if there is a crimped or otherwise restricted exhaust that is causing the heat to be held in the unit with no escape. It could cause this if you have a flexible duct and the dryer has been pushed against the wall.

I have a Kenmore dryer. The igniter comes on but there is no gas. I was told that these coils are the problem. Is that right?

Yes, typically one of the coils would get bad and won't energize enough to open the gas valve. There is no accurate way to test which coil is bad, so both are replaced at the same time. That's why they come as a kit of two. It's fairly simple to replace the coils. Make sure to unplug the dryer power cord and turn off the gas to the dryer (there's usually a shut off valve behind the dryer) before doing any repairs.

You can test the coils using a multi-meter. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3.

If instead, I wait 30 minutes to restart, the heater will work for a few minutes and then go cool again. Hello. You can test the coils using a multi-meter AP3440648. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. I followed your very indepth video, thanks for, it's great! And it seems as though it is the coils that need replacing, my dryer has no heat at all. However, I read above that you can check to see if the igniter is glowing, how? Does the dryer have to be turned on, with the gas on for this, presumably? And if so, how do I check for the igniter, as the front panel needs to be on to support the drum. Thanks, Mark

Hello Mark. You will need to remove the front panel and the drum from the dryer. Then turn the unit on and watch the igniter to see what it does. Hope this helps.

My dryer is doing the exact same thing as described above. When it's cold, flame on for 3 minutes or so, goes out, back on then out for good. Ignitor glows on and off as described. Ohm'd out the coils and the resistance is exactly what they should be per your specs at the top of the page. They energize strong when first started, then don't at all when it starts cycling after the flame goes out. Bypassed both Hi & Lo thermal switches, no change.
