Water fills then timer buzzes but wash does not start. Motor spins freely by hand.

Hello Bill. If there is no power going to the motor, and the timer is buzzing, you will need to replace the timer AP4027878 on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter AP3873826. While spinning, the machine makes a loud, constant rubbing sound. Not like metal on metal, but loud nonetheless. Would this have anything to do with the damper? If not, what might it be? thanks

Hello Kathy, I check the inner tub. They are held in by a spanner nut and the nuts sometimes come loose. The other thing I would check is for nails or screws in the inner tub hanging by the head through the holes. This can be done without any disassembly at all. Just look for the end of a nail or screw in the holes in the tub.

Maytag washer flooded the room, would not stop filling. I tried using the dial, but even with lid up water keep filling. We then turned off water main. Spin cycle worked fine once we turned off the water main. Turned water back on and it seems to be fine now, but this has never happened before. I would like to fix it now before this happens again.

Our Maytag washer has two issues. 1. It won't spin. (It agitates fine.) A few weeks before it stopped spinning, I think I heard something that sounded like a bearing was going bad. About 2 weeks before it stopped spinning, the spin cycle changed sounds to where it began sounding like an airplane was getting ready to take off. It still spun the clothes dry as usual. Then after a couple weeks, it did not spin and had a burning rubber smell. Underneath there is a pulley that spins counterclockwise, but stops when I try to spin it clockwise. Do you know what is causing this? How much for the parts? Also, how easy is it to repair? 2. For quite some time now, we get a small leak under the washer. If we let it sit with a load, more water will drain out. What causes this, and how much for the parts?

Jeff, The leak and the no spin situation indicate a leaking tub seal and a seized tub bearing assembly AP4390013 AP4372971 and AP4025855 is the burn odor. and the spanner wrench part no. is AP4503397 you'll need it and a hammer to remove and install the tub mounting stem kit. It's a bit involved, you'll need to raise the top, remove the tub cover, spin tub and outer tub assemblys, replace the parts and reverse the procedure. I would expect it to take approximately 60 to 90 minutes for a DIY'r to do, but it's well worth the time and expense. Both your issues are due to the same faulty part. Good Luck and Thanks

My washer is spaying water out of the back and sides like a sprinkler on low. I think is is a seal gone bad but do not know what part it could be. Also I am having a hard time finding repair services in my area in the phone book or on line.

Hello Tom. You need to check and see if the water valve AP4026989 or the injector AP4028373 is leaking on the unit. If so, it will cause the problems you are having. Hope this helps.

NO matter the size of the load, it gets completely out of balance when spinning. I have to raise the lid and redistribute the clothes to keep it in balance. Which part is worn and neets replacement?

My washer washes, but doesn't go into any other cycle. It makes no noise and doesn't click for the next option. Is it the timer???

Hello Carol. You will need to test and see if you have power at the timer motor. If so, and the timer does not turn, you will need to replace the timer AP4023992.
