I have a commercial washer LA25CS. When it fills up with water and startes to agitate it sounds like something is stripped on the agitator shaft.The agitator moves but very slowly I removed the agitator and the shaft looked ok, I remounted the agitator on the ahaft and it does the same thing. I advanced the timer to the spin cycle and the washer spins fine. Do I need to replace the transmission? Thank you for your time

Hello Ken. Yes, if the splines of the agitator are good, and the shaft is good, then it sounds like the transmission AP4373301 is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit. Hope this helps.

I purchased the damper and pads from you for my maytag stackable washer and dryer that was purchased in 1986 lse1000. My grandson is trying to replace the parts. He said because the machine is spring loaded he is not sure about how to get to the part. Do you have any imformation on this that would help him replace the part? The damper pads he can easily replace but not sure about the damper. The washer works great but it shakes real bad in the spin cycle.

Washer does not agitate, burning rubber smell. Does spin to evacuate water from tub. Do I have to replace the Trans Dee?

Ron, Most likely, yes. You you conduct the manual test, first. Slide the washer out, raise and block up the front of the washer, remove the drive belts. Grasp the drive pulley on the transmission and turn it in a counterclockwise direction, The Tub should start to spin in 1/2 to 3/4 of a revolution of the pulley. Turn the pulley in a clockwise direction, and the pulley should be relatively easy to turn and your assistant, should see the agitator oscilate. If the the pulley is hard to turn or cannot be turned, That would indicate a gear case issue or top agitator shaft bearing issue. Good Luck and Thanks

Bought the maytag combo washer and dryer in 1986. Never had any repairs on washer or dryer. Both are still working great. Recently washer vibrates bad when in spin cycle. Any suggestions on what the problem would be? I don't want to spend money on new washer and dryer when these are still working great. Are parts still availabe for this machine? Need to replace hoses because the hoses have never been replaced.

Good Morning, I hope this note finds you smiling! I have loved my Maytag washer and dryer for the past 19 years and now, like my 14 year old dog, I am aware it is thinking of leaving me. I had the dryer rebuilt several years ago and it is still performing great. BUT.. the washer is leaking oil (transmission?) and has been for quite a while now. The oil is yellow in color and is primarily on the right underside. Paying for a "pro" to repair wouldn't be a wise move considering the age of the machine and I am thinking of trying to do the repair myself. Depending on if this is actually the problem, do you think it is a very smart move. Our local merchant who we have been dependent on for over twenty years now charges a "trip" fee along with the house call so just to find out what the problem is would be about 75.00. Then would be the time and materials. I love my washer, don't need all the bells and stuff on the new models and am a bit shy on funds at this time of year!! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Polly. Good News, it's not likely the transmission leaking oil. That lubricant, is a very dark, sticky, and smelly. You likely have residual tub bearing oil running down the inside of the cabinet. It usually doesn't take 14 years to become visible. You can remove the front panel and wash the residual oil off the interior of the cabinet. Lean the machine back and wash the dripping oil off the lip of the outer cabinet rolled edge. Just be very careful around the sharp edges and screws. You'll be fine, Good Luck and Thanks

My washing machine is almost 10 years old and it is not spinning. I replaced the belts but now I think it is the transmission. If I replace the transmission, do I also have to replace the brake/clutch?

Hi i have a maytag model:lat8824aae. it just stopped working today.the water fills in fine. tried to change load size and it does fill & stop with the right amount of water but after that nothing. the timer thing doesnt move at all. just lets the water fill in & then sits there also i am not sure if the agitator is supposed to have free movement. went to check my friend washer and could easily move the agitator in both directions with a soft touch but in mine it doesn't budge in either direction. not sure if it is supposed to. please guide thanks

Hello Itirp. sounds like you have a lid switch problem AP4026359 this has to work or the machine will not work, thats why it just fills with water and stops. Good Luck !

My washing machine doesn't agitate.I've changed the belts,turned the pulley in one dirction and the tub spinned,turned the pulley in the opposite direction and the agitator turned.Is there anything else I can try? Thanks

Bill, Does the motor run in the agitate mode ? does the motor move back and forth on the motor carriage assembly with the belts off ? Based on your post, everything is mechanically, fine in the transmission. I've never seen a Maytag agitator strip out on the agitator shaft, but you may want to check there. Good Luck and Thanks
