Asked by Yette for Model whirlpool model#LSR5132JQO

Hi Yette. Inspect the motor coupler part # AP3963893 to see if it is binding or broken. The motor part # AP2907974 has a capacitor part # AP3866194 that may be bad. Look at the top in the middle of it and see if there is a black bubble formed there. I have actually seen the blown out hole and spurted debris of the black inner core of the capacitor. If you decide to replace the motor new again, by all means replace the capacitor along with it. On this model you can purchase just the motor start switch part # AP3125984. You can physically peak inside the red cover and see the contacts to see if they are pitted enough to stop proper current flow. Thank You.

Asked by James D. for Model Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II GSQ9611KQ2

Hello James. Once you have the screws undone, you will use a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the screws out of the control panel. The ends of them are smooth and they will not back out all the way.

Asked by Barry S for Model kenmore 80 series washer

Barry, Since the washer fills, drains and spins, it's not likely a motor or pump issue, That pretty much isolates the issue down to a faulty agitation circuit in the timer or a loose connection at the timer or motor. Remove the motor and coupler, leave the back half attached to the gearcase and turn the coupler in both directions several turns, this will varify the gearcase is not "locked up" Good Luck and Thanks

Asked by Phil for Model Whirlpool Estate Washer

Hello Phil. It is normal for the coupling AP3963893 to be tight and it is normal for a slight rubber smell in the first few loads. It sounds like there may be nothing wrong with the unit.

Asked by William H. for Model ROPER WASHING MACH

Hello William! It could be the lid switch, when closing the lid you should hear a clicking sound, that is the lid switch. If you do not hear a clicking sound, you will more than likely need a new lid switch. Also make sure the lid switch wiring harness is connected, you have to unplug it off when you remove the cabinet to change the coupler. It may have come loose. Hope this helps!

Easy repair and very fast delivery = working washer for the weekend

Original Problem: Washer would not agitate and made strange noises
Appliance Repaired: Whirlpool washer
Appliance Age: 5+
When I got home from work the other night the first thing I hear when I walk in the door is, the washers broke. Nothing like a warm welcome. I've made a few minor repairs on it before, replaced the water valve and lid switch. This time though, it was making a horrible grinding noise when it was suppose to be agitating.

I remembered that on this model the cabinet had to be removed in order to get to the guts of the machine. It was obvious to me the motor was running because of the noise. I went ahead and put it in spin to hopefully get rid of the water in it so I could take it apart. It drained so I knew the pump was ok. It still made some noise in spin. I removed the cabinet by removing the control panel screws and lifting the control panel up so I could release the two clips that hold the cabinet in place. I removed the clips and unplugged the lid switch then tilted the cabinet at a angle then I pulled it forward off the washer and set the cabinet to the side, so I could then hopefully determine something before I kicked it to the curb.

I then unsnapped the hooks that hold the pump onto the motor shaft and removed it. I turned it with my finger and couldn't feel anything in it that might be making the noise. I then removed the wires from the motor, unsnapped the clips that hold the motor on and removed it. No funny noises out of it, but I then discovered my problem. The drive coupler piece that mates the motor to the transmission was destroyed. Boy was I proud to tell my wife I found the problem. I'd ordered parts from your company before, so I thought I'd give you a try again. I popped in my model #, found the right picture and had the part ordered in no time at all. The amazing thing was how fast I got the part. It was about 9pm when I placed the order on a Wed night, and I got it that Fri.

I noticed the replacement one was a new design, appears they beefed it up. I pried off the old pieces and installed the new ones into place, reattached the motor, plugged in the wires and reattached the pump. I put the cabinet back on the frame, lined it up, snapped the clips that hold it on, plugged in the lid switch and reattached the control panel. I was up and running in no time.

Your organization has made me a happy man, because the wife has a working washer for the weekend. Thanks AppliancePartsPros.com

Real easy job. Ready to fix whatever’s next.

Original Problem: Washer will not spin but the motor was running.
Appliance Repaired: Whirlpool washer
Appliance Age: 10+
Last time I worked on an appliance I shocked myself, so make sure you unplug it. I was going to turn the washer on its side panel but then figured out the correct way was to remove the cabinet. I removed the cabinet and then the motor and pump. This means removing the hoses and all the hardware so make sure you remember where it goes. I pried the coupling off the motor and transmission and tapped the new one on. I then put everything back the same way I took it off. It was really easy. I’m glad I decided to fix it myself. It was much easier than I thought. Probably saved $100.

Original Problem: Roper washer will not agitate or spin
Appliance Repaired: Direct drive washer
Appliance Age: 6
At first I tried to remove the back of the machine but decided to lean the washer back and attack from below. It was kinda tricky but I was able to get the motor and pump off the transmission. I had to remove the bolts and clips holding the motor on. The new coupler I bought didn’t look exactly like the old one so I was a little worried, turns out they redesigned it with some metal bushing. I hope they did this to make it stronger. Once I got the new coupler onto the motor and transmission shafts I lined up the center rubber bushing and slide it back together and replaced the clips and bolts. I’m glad I tried this on my own, my neighbor paid over $100.00 to have his replaced by a tech a few months ago. He said he couldn’t believe the guy did it in 10 minutes, my first time so it took a little longer. Appliancepartspros.com delivered the parts faster than I expected and I’m glad for the money I saved! Parts Used: Washer coupler
