I have read your answer regarding the constant running of the drain pump
Hello Lawrence, I need to get some more information from you. Does the unit sound like a pump is running all of the time? If so, It sounds like the flood switch has been activated in the base. You see, when a small amount of water accumulates in the base, the flood switch is activated and this causes the unit to do nothing but pump out. Most of the time the problem turns out to be a bad water inlet valve. Remove the kick panel and turn the water and power to the unit off. I normally remove the door panel and the bottom sheet to accommodate more working space. Remove the water inlet valve and, using an inspection mirror and flashlight, look for any water in the bottom of the unit. If you see water, I always use a towel not washed with softener to wick the water out. Be careful while doing this as the float switch is made of Styrofoam and can easily be damaged. You should replace the water inlet valve AP3783031 as this is normally the cause of the waters' presence in the base assembly.
I have the same problem but need to know if a clogged sink drain that backed up and flooded could also cause the same float switch to hang. If so should I replace the inlet valve as it doesn't appear to have caused the problem
ANSWER Hello Richard. Yes, that can cause the issue and in that case, the valve would not need to be replaced in the unit.
