What is that red button for? My dryer heater does not work and that button cannot be pushed in or pulled out.

ANSWER Hello Ron. The button is a rest for the thermostat. If the thermostat is open and will not reset, you will need to replace the thermostat 170857. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
