My ice maker will not produce ice the unit is about 8 years old the water valve works as I removed it and bench tested it. the water dispenser works also. I have checked the ice maker limit switches and they all function also. The problem is there is no water being distributed to the ice trays. What tells the water valve to open because I believe it is not getting a signal.

ANSWER Hello Scott,
The first thing that you want to check is to make sure that there is no ice in the fill tube for the icemaker. If there is ice in it then clear it out. Then you want to check water flow through dispenser. If it has been a while it may be necessary to change filter WF2CB. If the filter is good then you may have a seeping water valve 242252702 causing water to trickle in and freeze. If the fill tube is not frozen then you would want to check the icemaker to make sure the contacts are meeting the limit switches. It may be necessary to replace icemaker 5303918344
