My freezer is currently only cooled to 40 degrees and not making ice because of temp, it has been mentioned that the defrost timer is stuck on defrost. I think I have located it under the controls in the refrigerator half. It looks like it is a control board, am I correct at position and would anyone agree with assessment? Part number 240554502.
If the unit is shutting down for long periods of time and the fans not running then yes the unit may be getting stuck in defrost. If the unit is constantly running but not cooling and all the fans are running there may be a defrost issue. With defrost failure there will be heavy frost build up on the rear wall of the middle to lower freezer compartment. If this is the case you would want to check the defrost thermostat and heater first. You would do a continuity test and if no continuity then you would replace that part. If both have continuity the control 5303918476 would be at fault.
