Fridge is runnibg fine, but an odor has developed. must a refrigerator that has been sitting door closed and un plugged. I remove all food as weel as in the freezer, washed and sanitized both freezer and refrig. smell came back after a few hrs. Is there a air filter in this unit. what elsa could be causing this?? any help would be great.
ANSWER Martin, No, most refrigerators don't have air filters(including yours) and most odors are from an outside source (something you put in the refrigerator) or from sitting for extended periods with the doors closed, allowing any previous odor to intensify. There's not much you can do, once you've washed the complete interior out with hot soapy water and rinsed it out(don't forget the door liner and gaskets as well). You can attempt to de odorize the interior using Baking Soda,Activated Charcoal, Coffe Grounds, Vanilla Extract, or Fabric Softner Sheets
