Can the AP2129143 igniter be installed by me or do I need a service person to do it? If a service person has to do it, who do you recommend?
ANSWER Benjamin, Yes you can install the igniter yourself. It's a simple basic repair, here's some help: Open or remove the oven door. 1. Disconnect electrical power from range. 2. Remove oven bottom, Remove the two screws holding rear of the ovenbottom to liner tabs and lift the rear of the bottom up and slide it back, and the burner baffle, Using a 3/8” socket remove the nut holding the baffle to the burner. Remove the two screws holding the baffle to the front frame. 3. Remove the two screws holding the igniter to the burner. 4. When replacing the igniter the replacement igniter will come as a kit. The kit will have an igniter with short wires and two ceramic wire nut. It will be necessary to cut and splice the wires. Reverse the procedure and test the oven for ignition and heat. Be careful with the new igniter, they are pretty fragile. Good Luck.
