I have a french door Frigidare fridge. The ice in the ice maker seems to melt- or clup together preventing the auger from working. I replaced the ice bin yet I am not sure how to fix the opiginal problem. There is also a coated wire with a rubber end that is hanging down. I do not know know where it goes and can not find it on the diagram. Could this be the problem?
The coated wire with the rubber end is most likely the issue with the unit. That wire is a thermistor that should be connected to the bottom of the icemaker. If the thermistor is just hanging down it will cause the icemaker to cycle before the water has time to turn to ice, therefore causing the ice bin to be almost like a solid chunk. There should have been a clip that would hold the thermistor in place and if it is not longer there then you would need to replace the icemaker assembly. The part number for the icemaker is 243297606. If you put the part number in at our website and look at the picture, the sensor will go right in the center of the ice tray.
