Note: This question is for the older version of this part, but we thought you might still find it helpful
This weekend the freezer started to not work. The code is flashing the number 4. Everything that I can find says that we need to replace the damper. This morning the refrigerator side is no longer cooling. Will replacing the damper correct that as well?
ANSWER Hello AmyHello Amy,
I would check for the defrost causing unit to not cool properly. If the unit is not cooling at all check your compressor. If the compressor is not running you may have a bad start relay 241707701. Look for burn marks on the start relay. If it is a defrost issue you will have heavy frost build up on the back wall of freezer compartment. Also check to ensure your evaporator fan 241854601 is running. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
