What is the wire coming out of the unit for. My old part does not have that. When replacing that part is there anything else that should be replaced at the same time

ANSWER Hi John. This all depends on the type of timer you have replaced. Most times the black wire is hooked on #1 Terminal for continous run. Thank You.
