Is it possible for the defrost heater to go bad and the thermostat still be good?

ANSWER Hello Jack,
It is very possible for the defrost heater to fail and the defrost thermostat be good. When the defrost thermostat is closed, it simply passes the current. Unless the points try to open while excessive current is passing, it will not damage the defrost thermostat.
