My refrigerator door seems to be saging and not making a good seal at the top and bottom. What might be causing this? There is slack in the hinge up and down. If I pick up the door it seals fine. Any thoughts?
ANSWER Hello David,
The first thing I would check is the lower hinge. The best way to do this is to empty the door so no weight is on the door. Now lay down in the floor with the door open and try to move the bottom of the door back and forth while watching the hinge. If it moves, it needs to be tightened. If not, you may need to put some washers 240311303 on the hinge under the door to raise it up. If the door has been overloaded for a long time, the hinge bearing 240527102 may be worn out. Over a long period of time, with excessive weight in the door, the door hinge bearing round hole will wear and actually appear oval. When this happens, the handle end of the door will droop causing the door liner on the handle side of the door to drag when the door is opened or closed.
