For Frigidaire Dryer Heating Element Assembly (Part Number: AP2107129)

This Frigidaire dryer is about 5 or 6 years old. It only heats when controls are set to High Temp and Timed Dry. Does not heat on other settings. This is a single-stage element, so doubt it is partially burned out or shorted as I get no heat on alternate settings, but have not checked amp draw with an amprobe. I hate to just start changing parts (expensive with little assurance it will solve problem). I get great airflow on relatively hot temperature on the mentioned settings and the discharge run is only 15 ft. with no 90s. I appreciate your help.

Dick for Model Number GLER341A2

ANSWER Dick, You will want to test the fabric selector switch to make sure that it is good. For the regular cycle, terminals 1 to 2 should have continuity. For medium there will be continuity on terminals 1 to 2 and 4 to 3. On Low there will be continuity between 1 to 2 and 4 to 5. Also check the resistor on the switch between 3 and 5 as it should have a resistance of 3K ohms. Also check he control thermostat as the terminals that have blue and the terminal with org/blk should have a reistance of 28K ohms.
