This refrigerator is only 9 years old, I have the receipt. The freezer is not freezing. The temperature is about 28° to 30° (sometimes warmer) and the fresh food side is only cool. Its' temperature is between 40° to 48°. A repairman came and said because there was no frost on the evaporator and that it must have a leak. My husbands' friend came over and looked at it and when he did the bottom half and the line across the top were covered with frost and he said it is the thermostat. So who do we believe? Replacing the evaporator is so costly but I dont want to waste time replacing the thermostat to find out it is the evaporator. HELP!
ANSWER Mary, At this point, and based on your description, you have a "Restriction" in the sealed system, most likely in the evaporator itself 5303918274. And it's not the thermostat 5303918202, it controls power to the defrost heater, and shouldn't create a partial defrost as you described.
