The garage refrigerator heater kit will work for your unit. When the temp drops below 35 degrees you will have some cooling issues as the unit will not be able to adapt to these temps. The kit will stay in the unit during all temps and will not interfere with defrost cycle as it has a defrost timer and will go through defrost approximately every 8 hours.
