We recently had the deforst timer replaced on this freezer (6 years old). now the freezer triggers the circuit breaker and turns off after 10-12 hours. When I turn the defrost timer past the two clicks it runs again and we have to do this avery 8-10 hours. What is the issue and can this be resolved with replacing the heater element? or something else?

ANSWER Hi Ned. Check the defrost timer connections to see if there is a shorted wire grounding out onto the chassis or the bracket mount. Open the freezer back wall and make sure the defrost thermostat part # 297216600 is closed (0-ohms) under normal temperatures. Make sure the heater part # 216730700 leads are not grounded out as well. Repair all terminal leads if necessary. The heater should have resistance and not open (o-ohms). From what you described the Defrost timer part # 297318010 may have internally shorted terminals. Thank You.
