My fridge not getting cold. Coils has ice built up on them. I replaced the defrost thermostat and timer. The heater has continuity going through it. My question for you is when you put the fridge in manual defrost does the defrost thermostat have to be in it's cold state in order to see the 120vac across the heater. I see it on one side of thermostat but not the other side going to the heater.
ANSWER Hello Damon. Yes, the thermostat has to be cold to close and pass the power through it.
