My ice maker stripper part broke off, and now the ice maker wont work at all, (no water fills in it) is this the only problem or is something else wrong. I don't want to buy a $20 part if the whole thing needs replaced. Thanks!

ANSWER Michelle, A broken ice stripper would not normally cause an ice maker to fail, but. If the stripper jammed the rake arm, that could cause more issues, burnt out motor or switches. At this point, you may want to replace the ice maker 5989JA0002P,
