When I light my oven, I get a odor of gas. This goes away after a while, and my pans are covered in black stuff. What do I need to fix this? Thank You

ANSWER Hi. The oder smell is indicative of the safety valve diapram leaking and needing replaced. It is part # 3203459. (If you have not converted to LP gas), and then the valve does not regulate the gas then it will soot up as well by allowing too much gas. Thank You.
