There is a whining noise coming from what appears to be the pump assembly. It occurs when the dishawasher is filling or rinsing. I also noticed a small amount of leakage underneath the center of the washer. I was advised that it is probably the pump/motor assembly that needs to be replaced. Would a bad pump assembly cause the noise and the leakage problem or does it seem as though their is more than 1 issue?
ANSWER Hello Ed,
It sounds like there is more than 1 issue. Since you are getting the whining noise when filling it sounds like the water valve is causing this noise. The leaking issue would more than likely need to have the pump and motor assembly replaced. The pump can cause a whing noise if the bearings are going out but should not happen when filling as the pump is not on during fill.
