I just bought a foreclosed house that has a frigidaire side-by-side in it. At first it was making ice, and now it doesn't. The water is coming out of the door just fine. Since we have bought the house we have cleaned the filter and put the house on Culligan filtration services as the water is very rusty, medium sulfur, and hard. We did not use the ice machine until after the Culligan guy came because we didn't like the water. After the water was taken care of we emptied the ice and it hasn't made any ice since...it has been six days. Also in that process the filter was removed and left out of the refrigerator for about 3 days The filter housing was not replaced, but left off of on the refrigerator during that time frame either, so I don't think water should have made it to the ice maker to clog anything. I am not sure if the ice that we tossed out of the ice bin was before or after the filter was changed. Not sure what the filter change would have to do with it though since the water works perfectly fine.
You will want to pull the icemaker out of the unit and check to see if the feeding/fill tube in the back of the freezer is frozen. If it is frozen then you will want to clean the ice out of the tube and replace the water valve. The water valve would have a solenoid for the dispenser and one for the icemaker and if the icemaker solenoid is not shutting all the way it will cause the fill tube to freeze.
