I bought a refurbished Frigidaire, unsure of the model number. I believe it uses the original PureSource filtration system and I know it uses the same filter as mentioned in the above posts. I have not had a single problem with it in 2 years. I went to do a routine filter replacement like I have done since I've owned it. A couple of days later I notice the water dispenser on the door and the ice maker have stopped working. Then I find the filter housing has frozen and cracked and the water lines ("in" and "out") are also frozen. Thinking I may have somehow installed the filter incorrectly I ordered a new base and installed it after checking that the water dispensed at that point. I also installed a new filter because the nipple on the old one cracked when it froze. Got it all back together, everything worked like a charm... for 5 days. Now I have the exact same problem, except this time I caught it before it destroyed my base and filter. PLEASE HELP!! I'm losing hair and sleep rapidly!!!
The issue sounds like it could be a faulty damper that is staying open causing the filter to freeze. We would need to have the model number to look up the part.
