We installed a new Frigidare refrigerator in a Colorado cabin in March 2011. We winterized it for 2012 by draining the water lines. When we reconnected the lines in March, water was leaking from the right back corner of the unit on the inside of the box. After talking to a tech we removed the water filter and found that it had multiple cracks in it. Could this have frozen? Should it also be removed when we do our winterizing, or is there a filter that can handle the freezing temperatures...we do not leave heat on in the house. I thought the tech I talked to mentioned a filter of this nature. Thanks

ANSWER Hello j meyer. You will need to remove the filter when you winterize the refrigerator. There is not one made that is designed to freeze.
