My sister's Frigidaire clothes dryer (FDE546LBS1) is making a screeching noise while the drum rotates. I asked her if the noise was emanating from the front or rear of the dryer. She said she believes the noise is near the rear. I'm thinking the drum bearing is bad and needs to be replaced. She said she thinks the dryer is about 18-19 yrs. old. Can you confirm the age from the s/n: XD54180096?
Please let me know if you think this would be the problem. Should I replace both p/n's AP2107609 (ball hitch) & AP2142648 (rear drum bearing kit)?
I've replaced the drum bearing in other makes of dryers so this will be familiar to me. I just don't know if the ball hitch should be replaced as well.
Thanks- Tim
Tim for Model Number FDE546LBS1
ANSWER Tim,
If you replace teh Rear drum bearing kit 5303281153, this will include the ball hitch and would not be necessary to order one.
