One of us is confused - probably me, but you don't seem either to be answering my question at all, or answering it in a manner that makes sense to me. I know that the handle will fit over the screw/dovetail assembly, but the screw CAME OUT of the refrigerator door completely when the handle broke off. How do I re-insert the screw back into the refrigerator door prior to installing new door handle? When I try to screw it back in, the screw/dovetail combination seem too large for the hole and it doesn't want to stay in there securely.

ANSWER Jane, I was afraid, that's what you were saying. If the hole in the fridge door panel is too large for the screw to tighten properly, you will need to replace the door panel 240450401 . You may want to go to the local hardware store, with the screw, and puchase a "molly" or "anchor" of similar size, it may give you time, before you need to purcahsed the door assembly, it has worked for others, in the past. Sorry for the misunderstanding, Good Luck and Thanks
