My icemaker is not getting water. The water is going to the outside of the fridge (drinking water), so there is water coming in to the fridge. Had a appliance repair guy out here and he says I need a new icemaker $199 + $199 labor. Does the actual icemaker regulate the water?
The icemaker does regulate the water in sending a signal to the water valve to open when the unit is reading to dump and fill the icemaker. You can pull the icemaker to make sure that the fill tube behind icemaker is not frozen which would cause icemaker not to work. Also do a voltage test at the water valve. If you get 120 vac when the icemaker calls for water then the icemaker is not bad and it would be a bad water valve 242252702. If there is not 120 vac then the icemaker 5304458371 would be at fault.
