New home purchase (older home, new to us) and dishwasher simply does not wash the dishes. The machine runs and you can hear the various cycles running. The auto dishwashing liquid holder does not stay closed when door is shut and liquid can be seen running down interior door when re-opened. I need direction on accessing repairs or replacment parts.

Sounds like the water inlet valve 154637401 isn't putting enough water in it. If the water level isn't up to just below the heating element or higher, the water level isn't sufficient. If it is, the circulation pump isn't operating properly. If the water supply is sufficient to the water valve, I think the water valve will solve the issue for you.
