My large right front heating element will not turn off. Do I need to replace the switch or the burner?

ANSWER Hello Donna,
First check for and wiring shorted to ground. This can bypass the switch and keep the element energized all the time. If no shorts, the next suspect is the infinite switch 316436001. If the element were at fault, most times it won't come on at all.
Be sure when you change the part to remove one wire and place it on the new part. Remove the next wire and place it on the new part, and so on. This will prevent you having to chase the wiring for the new part installation and simplify your repair.
