I have a kenmore glass top range and the two large elements on the cook top have runaway problem. My wife will turn one of them on, and it will funtion properly for awhile. You can see the element pulsate as the temperature is being regulated, but then all of the sudden the element will come on and not turn off. It like it has been turned to high but it hasn't. Most of the time you can turn it off and back on and it will work for awhile. I once had to go to the breaker panel and turn off the oven breaker because the thing wouldn't shut off. After that we removed the knob so it couldn't be used on that burner. Thanks for the help.
ANSWER Randy, Your post information would indicate you need the burner infinite switch(s) 5303935086 for both large (8" burner elements). The L2 to H2 circuit in the switch(s) cause the element to cycle off and on. The internal bi metal switch is failing and sticking closed causing the element to remain on the " HI" setting.
