Are there any known issues with water valve, p/n 241636701? I have had two failures in the last three years on a four year old Frigidaire Gallery Series fridge. Not only is this a costly part, but each failure has required me to replace the ceiling in my downstairs leaving room because of the water damage. Any information or a more reliable replacement part would be appreciated.
ANSWER Travis, All fill valves eventually have some sort of issue, but every 12 to 14 months is not common. Apparently the valve diaphram gets stuck open and you have a leak ? That could be due to a water supply or quality issue. If there is a high content of minerals or calcium or manganese and other minerals, could cause the diaphram to become "hard" and not seal properly, or react slowly or sediment in the water could stick in the valve seat and cause an ongoing drip issue. Low,inadequate, or fluctuating water pressure could inadvertently cause the diaphram to open, you need to maintain a minimum constant 32 PSI water pressure to the fill valve when there is a filter, water dispenser and icemaker involved, the higher the pressure the better ( 60 to 80 PSI is average in most areas) If you're using a "RO" filter system (reverse osmosis) you will have an issue with an irratic fill valve, the way the pressure fluctuates in the system when it flushes itself, causes most of the issues. Good Luck and Thanks
