I am replacing the belt on my fridgidare washing machine and noticed a post asking about the same problem I am experiencing. In the reply you stated that the transmission shoud go both ways. Mine is only going 1 way.... Does that mean something is siezed up?
Bill for Model Number frigidare wasingmachine
ANSWER Bill, A model number would have been a bit more helpful, but, Yes, when the belt is removed, you should be able to grasp and turn the transmission pulley, several revolutions in each direction. In one direction a helper should see the agitator operate, in the opposite direction, the tub should start to spin. If there's no agitate, the transmission gears are locked up, and you'll need to replace the transmission and other associated paerts. If the tub wont spin, you'll need to check and replace the tub bearings and asociated parts, there.
