I have a Kenmore stack unit. My wash-load stopped washing and I smell burned rubber. I hope it is just the washer drive belt. If so, how do I go about replacing the belt?
ANSWER Mickey, Yes your washer does have a drive belt 134511600. To check or replace it you will need to remove the front panel, Disconnect the laundry center from the power supply, remove the two screws from the bottom of the panel, and slide the panel down to release the tabs.
You'll need to check the idler pulley spring, and the setting on the base. Push in on the idler pulley and turn the belt off the pulley. Release the front springs, Release the small "C" clipfrom the stud on the transmission and allow the assembly to drop down. Check and make sure the idler pulley, and shaft, etc. are not seized up or deformed.
