Our Fridgidaire DW is about a year old and is now just starting to sound like it is running on a dry pump. I looked at your test for the drain pump and ran for 3.5 minutes, opened the door top rack works :-) but there was just barely enough water in the tub to wet my fingure. I closed door canceled cycle and heard drain pump quietly drain making me conclude the inside pump is running some what dry.
My question is this: is the water inlet valve a time open valve or is it hooked to a sensor that determines the level of water in tub to close valve? We are hooked to city water and recently our toilets continue to run, the Whirlpool washing machine.
Before I conclude the pump is bad, could the inlet valve be clogged with sediment and, if a time-on type valve, only be partially filling the valve?

ANSWER Hello Patrick,
Normally there is a water level switch which could cause this issue. We would need to have model number verified to be able to assist further. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
