My compressor was not working but hot to the touch, fan compressor works. When I removed the 5sp overload and inspected it, I found internal damage. I will replace the 5sp overload but will this solve the problem with the compressor?
ANSWER Hello Bill! If the 5sp overload/ptc WR09X10106 is defective, it will correct the issue. The overload keeps the compressor from starting in high amperage conditions and keeps it from overheating, when the part has not failed. The ptc is the start relay and kickstarts the compressor. Double check your model number, as GTS18FBMWW is not valid. Some of the GE GTS18FBM models use different parts. Thanks!
