The agitator Assembly, It seems the top half spins one direction but not the other. There also sounds like something rattling in there when I shake it. The agitator coupling seems to be in good shape. Also when the assembly is on the shaft there is some play back and forth and while the washer is running it sounds like an unbalanced load in the washer, Not in spin cycle just while agitating. Any help here would be awesome. Maybe the washer tub bearing under the inner tub?
ANSWER Hello Ryan,
The agitator has a ratcheting device made inside it so it will turn only one way. This is designed like this so the clothes will be properly agitated and produce a proper wash result. It will rattle because of the way it is designed. If the noise bothers you, you can try washing larger loads so it is in the water more. This is the only thing you can do since this apparatus is designed to do what you said it is doing.
