I determined today that my GE washing machine is from either February of 1977 or 1989. I think it's most likely 1989, but do not know. The agitator does not spin well unless I forcefully push down on the column. The agitator usually pops up off of the column after one or two heavy loads of wash. I assume that some sort of friction piece is missing or has degraded. I have uploaded 3 pictures of my washer in hopes that you could help me understand which part I need to buy. The first and second are of the drive column, the third is the inside top of the agitator piece.
The agitator/spline coupling piece on your website has 4 pictures; the second looks just like mine, the third looks much thicker as if mine is missing an outer friction ring or something. Thank you so much for the input.
Looking at the pictures that you sent the agitator WH43X102 would need to be replaced on unit as the inner part that meets with the spline is worn down. The spline comes with the agitator so you will get both pieces.
