What is the cover on the top left back of the refrig. covering and does it need to be there?

ANSWER Marilyn, The cover is there to reduce or eliminate the possibility of a frost issue in the refrigerator. It covers the water supply tubes that go to and from the water filter head assembly. You don't really want to remove it. Thanks
