I replaced the main board on this unit because temps were sporadic in both freezer/fridge. Temps ranging from 0/22 - 20/45. I checked the temps sensors, both of which checked out. When I replaced the board, the temps worked great for 5 days, then the fridge started doing the same thing, so now I am leaning toward the temp control board. Would a faulty temp board cause this? and if so, how do I check it. I do have proper voltage DC to the board and i do have lights, so I assume the board is just not reacting properly.
ANSWER Hello Derek. Look at the back wall inside your freezer. If you have snow build up on it or ice, you definately have a defrost issue. You will want to make sure the defrost components are functioning properly. The defrost thermostat should read close and your heating element will give you a resistance reading. If your thermostat and element are okay, you could have a defective main control WR55X10942. You will need a multi meter TJMA-DM1, Here is a link you can refer to for help with using a multi meter: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html . Thanks!
