Can I replace a mother board on my ge cooktop or do I need to hire a professional?

ANSWER Hi Tony. Yes this is a very doable repair. Make sure you turn the breaker off. Then the control board is at the bottom of the unit. You will need to access the wiring diagram in w/ the electrical junction box cover or in a folded packet in the same area. You need to mark all the wire connections down before starting so you can connect them correctly. I find the use of a cell phone picture assure review if needed. Then make sure that you ground yourself out by touching the bare metal ground a few times so you are not allowing ^30,000vac static to ruin the new board part # WB23T10024. Try to only handle the new board by the corners. Just use needle nose pliers and a pick tool to lift the center locking tab from any electrical connection. They will self lock onto the new terminal when pressed on. Make sure no wires are pinched (shorted) upon reassembly. Thank You.
