There has been frost developing on the ice maker exit going to the ice dispenser which every now and then blocks the flow of ice. I would take off the frost adjust the freezer temperature to 0 degrees every time I find the reading go to -1 or -2 degrees but could not get rid of the problem. After about a month, the display of the freezer temperature went out on the refrigerator digital temperature display. Meat stored in the freezer started getting soft. I could still feel cooling in the freezer but not enough to freeze meat kept inside. What could be the problem? Thanks for your answer..
ANSWER Hello Eugene,
The frost is moisture condensing in the ice chute. The ice door has an air leak as this is what causes this complaint. You should first use a flashlight, shining it from the front and look in to the ice chute. This will show you where the leak is. If light can pass, so can air. There are several things which can cause this ranging from a bad seal around the ice door, a broken or mis-aligned linkage, and the actuator 241689301 can actually gather enough condensation to rust and seize the plunger so complete travel is restricted or prevented completely. You should remove the dispense cover to check the components. An air leak will allow cold air to leave the unit and will introduce room temperature air which will affect the interior temperature.
