Is the spring necessary? Can I replace the spring myself? How difficult is it to replace? Suggestions please. thank you.
ANSWER RCP, Yes, the spring is necessary, it is actually a "chopper blade" and masserates any large semi soft articles in the water. You can replace yourself, it screws onto the end of the impeller and through the opening in the filter grate. you may have to lock the motor armature with a screwdriver to the shaft doesn't turn. Or remove the motor assembly from the sump tub and work on it outside of the dishwasher if needed. Either way it's a doable repair. Thanks and Good Luck
