I just realized that the instructions meant that I splice the new wire to the existing one, so I figured that one out. My next question is that the old defrost timer has a ground wire fused to the timer and grounded to the bottom support bar. There is not a specific place to connect the ground wire to the new unit. I can unscrew one of the screws that holds the new timer together and try to use that for a ground...should I?
ANSWER Hello Jane,
The ground wire can be attached to any metal place you can find to fasten it.
