I need to replace the light switch in the fresh food compartment... the switch that turns the light on when the door is opened.
I searched your site for the part number for my model. Part # wr23x10143 comes up. However, this part shows that it plugs in while the directions say it is attached to wires.
Please advise the following:
1. Is this the correct part number for this model built in 1996?
2. Does the switch plug in or is it wired?
3. Do I remove the switch by prying it out with screw driver and putty knife (your instructions say this is correct) or do I have to access it from the top?
4. If pried out, which side is the retainer clip on?
ANSWER Hello Doug, yes the correct light switch for this model number is WR23X10143. The switch will plug in and you will remove it by using a putty knife to press the tab in on the side and work it out. If you look at the third picture, you will notice the tab on that side and the switch unpressed pointing up. Look at your switch if the switch swings back, it would be on the right side, Thanks!
