The outside of my oven was heating quite a bit. Upon inspection I found that the door seal gasket was broken in pieces. I ordered the new gasket part # AP2028160 (GE par # WB32K5050). After receiving it we installed on the oven. it was a difficult process. Using the flat screw driver we force fitted the gasket, however, the oven door do not close completely and oven light stays on. Oven is still heating outside air. Is there a trick to install it properly. There was no instruction. Which side of the gasket stays out and which side goes behind ?We tried both ways but still not working. Please help !!!!
ANSWER Hi Paul. You will find several screws and washers (usually 2 per side) along the front edge of the cavity opening. You will need to loosen, but not remove the screws and "pull" the original gasket, out. Then carefully insert and "force" the new gasket into the opening, using a flat blade screwdriver or a "plastic" putty knife or push tool. You may need to lock the oven door a few times to get the door to seal and initially form. Thank You.
