Water inlet valve part number AP3672839 is the exact valve that is presently in my GE Refrigerator model number TPX24BIBA. My problem is that the valve end of the plastic tubing water line, that runs from the valve to the ice maker, gets so hot that the first inch or so of the tubing turns a brownish color, gets brittle from the heat of the valve and breaks off creating a bad leak when the valve cycles. I just wondered if you have heard of this problem and if a new replacement valve would not get as hot as to make the tubing brittle and fracture?.
ANSWER Hello Evan,
The water valve should be cooled by the water that passes through it. If it is getting that hot, I would begin by checking the water pressure to the unit. If the water pressure is sufficient, you should replace the water valve as it cannot be opening completely to allow proper water flow passage.
