my dryer has been working for years very well, until the dryer heating stopped. I removed the old igniter (we4x444), which was burnt/broken. I replaced it with a new we4x444 igniter.
I installed it, started the dryer and within 20-30 seconds the igniter and flame started and within 10-20 seconds, the igniter made a spark and the igniter glow turned off. I removed the new igniter and half the igniter's coil missing. It turned out that the spark that it made broke portion of the igniter coil. What do you think it is?... If I buy another new igniter, it will burn...
ANSWER Hello Frank. It sounds like it may have had a small crack from installation. You have to be very careful with these, as they are very very brittle. I would try another igniter and you should be fine.
